UTV Riding: COVID-19 Safety Precautions
With the pandemic, social activities of all sorts have gotten much more complicated. While restrictions may be lifted, it never hurts to remain cautious, especially when the safety of you and your loved ones is on the line! We here at Richmond Equipment want to make sure you’re safe and healthy, so here are a few precautions to take and what to expect from parks. If you want more information or are looking for UTVs for sale, contact our store in Richmond, Texas, today!
What To Expect
If you want to go UTV camping, there will be parks that allow that, but numbers and locations will be slightly more limited to provide for extra spacing between guests. To get your spot, you may have to reserve it ahead of time. Most park facilities will be open with some mask and social distancing requirements, but call ahead to verify that bathrooms and food stands will be available. Bring a credit card as well, since some parks aren’t accepting cash at this time.
Etiquette
To promote safety, parks and trails have implemented a few guidelines:
- Face coverings are required in all state park buildings
- Maintain a six-foot distance from anyone not in your group
- No groups larger than 10 people are allowed, with exceptions for large families or people living in the same household
What To Bring
You’ll want your usual UTV equipment and gear, of course, as well as some extra hygiene and disinfecting supplies, including:
- A face mask or two for everyone in the group; bring extras for overnight stays
- 60% alcohol content hand sanitizer
- Hand soap
- Bottled water
- Snacks and meals in a cooler
- Bleach/alcohol wipes
- Paper towels
- Plastic bags for dirty laundry, including used masks
Safety Tips
Ideally, avoid going to public parks or trails during high-traffic hours like weekend afternoons. Visiting during slower hours will help you avoid crowds and any occupancy-limit issues. When you do see other people in these locations, be courteous and give them plenty of space, placing at least six feet of distance between you when possible.
Like we mentioned, it’s best to only go on your UTV adventures with people in your own household for now. If you happen to feel sick at all, particularly with fever-like symptoms, body aches, or a loss of smell or taste, stay home and contact your doctor immediately. Those inside your bubble should also stay home for safety.
During your time out, make sure to sanitize and wash your hands regularly, and disinfect any high-touch areas of your gear or belongings, like your UTV’s handlebars and seat, the outsides of helmets, coolers, etc.
We hope these tips help you and yours stay happy and healthy! If you want more advice, or you’re on the market for a new UTV to practice social distancing with, contact us at Richmond Equipment. We proudly serve the people of Houston and Rosenberg, Texas—let us serve you today!
